Tattoo your lips! 1938

Vintage make-up ad, 1938
This lovely lipstick advertisment  for Tattoo, a new line packaged in a stunning tube engraved with an art deco hula girl. "And how his heart will pound," when he comes home from work and gets a peek at your lips and you tell him the brand is "tattoo."

Vintage article, 1962
Its the lastest fad in Hollywood!!!

  11. Ouch, dunno if I'd be smiling whilst having my lips tattooed! Love the beach girl in the top one. And those pics always have shoes that I wish would exist and were in my wardrobe!

  13. You know there is something vaguely tempting about this idea, especially for someone like myself myself who doesn't have the fullest lips ever. However, given the fact that one's skin naturally begins to shift a bit as we age, I think it's best to stick with good old fashion lipstick, lest one ends up with some rather wonky looking lips in 40 years ;D

Wishing you a splendid Thursday & blissfully wonderful month of February!

  16. Wow, that first ad is so wonderful! I swear that's one of those products I would shamelessly buy and use just for the packaging...
That second picture... well, I am not a believer in permanent makeup.
    Wonderful blog!

  18. haha I love that she is smiling in that photo. I somehow doubt that she would have a smile on her face while getting her lips tattooed.

  22. I definitely didn't know it started way back in the 60's. Oddly enough I heard some of them who got her lips [or somewhere else on her face] tatooed said that it's so convenient to not have to apply for makeup in the morning when you have to rush off to somewhere.

  23. I've been so tempted to look into getting my eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed, but like Jessica said...what about 20 years from now? Have you seen Tammy Faye Bakker with her crazy tattooed makeup? Hilarious.

  24. I don't know about that idea, what happens when you get old and your face starts to sag...
