I think I will do without all the bad luck and stay away from anti-superstition partys also If I see a ladder I will no doubt walk around it. Do any of you guys give into superstitions? I don't have any problem being a tad bit superstitious giving into a few like if I spill salt, I always take a pinch and toss it over my left shoulder. These guys are just insane!

ReplyDeleteAs for superstititons: I do get the urge to "knock on wood" and I don't like drying laundry between Christmas and new year (as per my Mother: "evil spirits will get tangled in it and bring bad luck for the new year"). I don't believe that of course, but it just doesn't feel right.
Walking under ladders always makes me smile though :-)

Fun pics! I'm not necessarily superstitious, but it always seems like Friday the 13th is always a stressful day. Today was no exception unfortunately :( No black cats, but lots of angry customers. The full moon seems to do the same thing.

I can’t say I am too superstitious, mainly it’s because I don’t know much about superstitions. I think the first time I encounter anything like it was watching a David Bowie video clip when I was little where the woman wouldn’t walk under the ladder. But I am clumsy and feel pretty unlucky some times.

What an amazing idea! I bet at the back of their minds there were some serious worries about what they were doing, but they were all trying to save face haha..
ReplyDeleteMy mum and grandmother are a bit superstitious, like they are polite to magpies because otherwise they are supposed to be bad luck and sometime I find myself doing the same just out of habit! :) x
Haha, I'm not sure I would have walked under that nest of that bad luck... not that I am that supersticious. But one thing I do keep my eyes open to avoid; my granny always told me not to let a street light, sign or any other pole get between the one I'm walking with, that would make us quarrel. I jsut can't get over that and always make sure that we, who ever I'm with, take the same side of anything standing in the way.

I actually believe that 13 is a lucky number.
ReplyDeleteThe number thirteen is among the holiest of the numbers because it is closely associated with G*d.
(I'm Jewish.)
And Friday is the day for Shabes so that can't bee all bad. :)
We're too peas in the "not superstitious" pod :D I don't believe in superstitions at all, yet for some odd reason I took chuck a little salt over my shoulder if I happen to spill some. I think certain acts like that are more ingrained habits (steaming from childhood influences) than actual superstitions, for I don't actually think anything negative will befall me if I don't throw salt over my shoulder.

ReplyDeleteI usually quite enjoy superstitions in a light hearted way, but I completely missed Friday 13th the other week! Hmm, I don't know, I do feel a little strange opening an umbrella indoors – but perhaps that is understandable!
