Jane Powell, born as Suzanne Lorraine Burce began her career at an early age, singing on the radio as well as performing in theater. In 1944 she was casted in her first major role at the age of 15 with Universal Studios in the feature film Song of the Open Road. The funny thing about how she got her stage name is that Jane Powell was her characters name is Song of the Open Road. Before the film released MGM decided to assign the name to her for good.

I adore Jane Powell so much! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is one of my favorite movies and I loved her with Howard Keel.
